In looking through the bodies of work one might be tempted to see a significant tonal shift in the progression from realism to abstraction. However the beginnings of the ideas present in the developing contemporary work can easily be found within the textures and abstracted spaces of the earlier, more traditional subjects. The work itself remains as realism, abstracted only through perspective and scale. This new direction therefore represents the refinement and concentration of initially broader concepts into a more focused narrative, as opposed to a full break from previous standards.
